District Management Area
A District Management Area (DMA) is the part of a South African district municipality that is directly run by the district as opposed to being part of a local municipality. The DMAs are usually national parks, or in western parts of South Africa are isolated areas of very low population density.
The Municipal Demarcation Board has expressed its intention to eliminate DMAs and integrate them into existing local municipalities at the 2011 local elections.[1]
